Check These Out!

These are just different websites or pages that have helped me through my journey that I think would be beneficial to others..

www.obesityhelp.com
(This was the very first website I ever found and looked at, when searching WLS.. You can join it, talk to other people who have had different surgeries.. You can search for surgeons, ask questions in the forums, learn about ALL of the different types of surgery.. (Not just the 2-4 that most people are aware of.) and much more. It's fantastic.)

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
(Use this to calculate your BMI.)

www.thebodydepartment.com
(Awesome website I've found started by Shawn Johnson, an olympic gymnast, all about body image, fitness, and just overall health. Not necessarily Metabolic or WLS issue specified, but it has some great recipes and workouts as well as an amazing support system!)

www.mybodygallery.com
(You can put in your clothing size, height/weight, etc.. and find people the same size basically as you.. and then you can also put in your ideal height/weight/size/etc.. and see what people look like at that size. It's really helped a lot of people I talk to get a feel for their surgeons goal weights for them, etc... I have used it before, as well.)

www.dietdirect.com
(I've been given, and ordered different foods and protein shakes from here... BariWise is my favorite brand. Their protein bars and drinks aren't bad at all. They're the only tolerable specific protein products I've found, that I'll use occasionally. They're a little pricey, but after surgery you can't eat much anyway.. It lasts awhile. Definitely check it out. (:)

http://jcem.endojournals.org/content/89/6/2526.full
(This is an absolutely amazing article I found on Insulin Resistance. It's really long, and uses a lot of medical terms.. But if you're interested on learning about the disease [although it may require google-searching a lot of the terms] definitely give it a look.)

www.formerlyfluffy.com
(Maria, who runs this site, I met on obesity help. She's one of the few who recommended I checked out the VSG before going along for bypass or lap band like my doctor had recommended. I had no clue what the sleeve was, and it was amazing checking out... And I couldn't be happier with my decision. I have her to thank for that. She's also posted one or two of my blogs, on her site. Which gained me a lot of traffic. Which was awesome. Thanks again, Maria. (: )

http://karenkavett.com/blog/2037/dont-break-the-chain-calendar-2014.php
This is a really neat tool you can use to help motivate yourself to exercise, take medications, stay on your diet, etc.. Whatever you want to use it for, really! They're called "Don't Break The Chain" calendar's and you can print one off for free, here! I have one on my wall. :)

http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/fitness/tools/calorie
This is a tool I found online, where basically you type in your weight, select the activity you'll be doing, and type in how long.. and it will tell you an estimate of how many calories you'll burn. I thought it was really cool. There's also a link called 'hydration needs' that tells you how much you need to drink to stay hydrated while exercising, and a few other things.. So definitely check it out. (:

www.myfitnesspal.com
A lot of people on obesity help use this website. It also has an app for smartphones, can be accessed on mobile phones, etc... It's a great calorie counter.. You can track your food/water intake, and exersize.. How many calories burnt, etc.. It's pretty awesome. I just started using it in June 2012. I like it so far. (:
